What is Political Science?

Political science examines the concept and practice of government and politics at the local, state, national, and international levels. We are dedicated to expanding our understanding of the structures, processes, and interactions that make up public life, and inquiry approaches that promote civic engagement.

Theory of Political Science

The foundations of political community and institutions are the focus of political philosophy. It focuses on human nature and political association’s moral aims. Political theorists use lasting political texts from ancient Greece to the present day and numerous writings by moral philosophers to explicate these notions. The political theory also includes actual studies of how political systems work in practice. Political theorists re-examine assumptions about political life in key political works in light of current human behavior. Political theory, in any instance, aims to enhance political understanding and encourage individuals to engage in responsible and innovative political activity.

Political Methodology

The philosophical foundations of political science and social science based on empirical study design and analysis of methodologies regarding the field and actual field research experience are all covered within the discipline of political methodology.

Political methodology courses address philosophical issues such as the existence of a science of politics, the similarities and contrasts between political science and other social sciences, alternate forms of explanation, and the truthfulness of knowledge claims. They also look at building experimental and non-experimental research designs for obtaining causal conclusions about political processes and behavior. Also, they learn how to analyze the political data created by these research methods using statistics, mathematics, and computers.

Seminars also allow students to work on individual and group research projects. The political methodology faculty’s current research and teaching interests include mass media, feminist theory, linguistic politics, political economics, rational choice theory, and public policy.

Comparative Politics

Comparative politics is a broad field that includes a variety of approaches and goals. Some academics and researchers study current political systems to see which ones better fulfil certain goals, such as order, equality, freedom, or economic stability and well-being, among their populations. Others think that the main purpose of comparative politics is to help people understand how and why different cultures create different kinds of political arrangements. Some use comparative politics to discover basic principles and hypotheses that can explain the diversity of human political behavior.

There are two sorts of comparative politics courses:

  • One provides comparisons of a certain set of problems or institutions across several nations.
  • The second category provides an in-depth analysis of a single country or a set of nations’ core political institutions and processes in a global region.

Building International Relations through Political sciences

International relations is concerned with learning more about states and non-state international actors, such as the United Nations and multinational corporations. International relations is a large field in terms of the sorts of behavior studied and the tools employed to examine them. The field focuses heavily on international conflict, notably war. What causes quarrels to erupt? Who do you think will win, and why? What can be done to keep conflicts at bay? What role do international organizations and regulations have in the world today? As the world has become more interconnected, scholars have become more aware of the importance of international economic activity. As a result, international trade, communications, development, foreign investment, and international finance are all being studied by scholars. Another important topic of investigation is how countries make foreign policy choices. National security policy, nuclear deterrent, arms control, and the military budget are all factors to consider in foreign policy. The whole area of study covers the single umbrella of political studies.

Purpose of Political Sciences

Political science is divided into five sub-disciplines: political theory, public administration, comparative politics, international relations, and public law. It covers a wide range of issues. It’s worth noting that these sub-disciplines cover the whole range of modern political economics and serve as the foundation for learning about and understanding how the global political economy works. The study of issues concerning power allocation and distribution and the transfer of power is one of the political scientist’s main interests. Political scientists look at the many different and complex factors that contribute to good or bad governance to establish whether the governance systems are effective.

Political scientist responsibilities have now been expanded to include the study of democratic elections across the world. In other words, as political systems throughout the world have grown in complexity, the area of study of political scientists’ has expanded significantly.

Political Science’s Importance

Political science is important since we all live in political systems and are affected by global political and economic changes. Individuals all across the world have become increasingly interested in learning about other countries political systems as a result of globalization. Political scientists are respected and valued because they provide a lens to understand the global political economy. Many institutions offer graduate and higher-level political science degrees, and these courses have been in high demand in recent years as political science has become more popular as a field of study.

Conclusive statement:

Although political science draws significantly on other social sciences, it is differentiated by its emphasis on power and defined as one of the major fields of science that describes the full political advantage and lacking which the world faces in this modern era of civilization. Through studying political issues, any individual is now aware of the political ups and downs faced by the country’s where they lived.
